Changing the Workstation Identifier
Under certain circumstances, it may be necessary to change the 'Workstation Identifier'. In these cases, we are essentially making the system believe that the terminal is operating from another library.
NOTE: This action is only ever done by a supervisor.

The Identifier would only ever be changed in certain situations. For example, if a patron is returning a DAL book, but her friend wants to borrow it:
NOTE: Always be sure to change the 'Workstation Identifier' back to the SMU library when you are finished with the transaction.
- When you check-in the item, its status becomes 'In Transit', meaning it is on its way back to DAL.
- Change the 'Workstation Identifier' by right-clicking the key icon, found in the bottom right-hand corner of ALEPH.
- A box pops up asking for the new 'Workstation Identifier'.
- Enter the Identifier for the owning library and click OK. In our example, we would choose Dalhousie's Killam Library.
- ALEPH now works as if you were physically at the Killam Library.
- Check the book in again.
- The book can now be signed out to the other patron, following the usual steps.
NOTE: Always be sure to change the 'Workstation Identifier' back to the SMU library when you are finished with the transaction.
