Verifying Registration Status in Banner
Verifying registration status in Banner is an important part of ID card production and renewal. All SMU students, whether they are new or returning, have to be registered in Banner before a new or replacement card is issued. We also verify that a student is registered in classes before we update their ID with a new validation sticker.
If Banner is already open and ready to go, search for the patron, and proceed to the next part of this section. If not, see the 'Accessing Banner' page for more information.
Students must have an 'A' number to get an ID card. If the 'A' number is unknown, you can find it by doing a 'Person Search' in Banner. See the 'Accessing Banner' page for more details.

To verify registration in the TESL program, do a Registration Query in Banner, making sure you are in the proper term for TESL. See 'Registration Query: TESL Students' if you need more details. Some students will come with a completed form from the TESL Center, which also verifies registration in the program.
Once the TESL patron's registration status has been verified, and if the patron does not have a TESL ID form, have the patron fill out one of our regular student ID forms. We still require this personal information in order to create an account in ALEPH. Ensure the patron's 'A' number and barcode are both filled out on the form. Make sure all necessary sections are completed and legible.
